#VinylArthink – music to watch

(16/10 – 12/11 2017)

The competition dedicated to illustrators and artists was open to all national and international artists from June to October and asked participants to dedicate their work to a piece of music.

On November 15, the commission began the selection process to get the three prize money (1000 euros for the first place, 500 for the second and 300 for the third).
The admitted ones were 667 on over 800 members.

Good foreign presence, about 30% with 190 artists, first among all the Iranians, both as a number (as many as 34 artists) and for the quality of the works.

The jury

High-profile jury called to select and reward works: Andrea Rauch, as president of the jury, illustrator and journalist has signed campaigns for Greenpeace and Doctors without Borders; Giuseppe di Dio, representing the Italian Association of illustrators AI (Authors of Images), Pierpaolo Pitacco, Art director of Rolling Stone Italia magazine; Fabio Toninelli, illustrator and President of the Tapirulan association; Carlo de Meo, a well-known Formian artist and Luigi Pensiero, founder of Arthink and promoter of the competition.

The evaluation criteria were based on originality, the ability to transmit emotions, on technique and style, on the coherence with the theme and with the dimensional scheme of the ArthinkBook.

The winner was Toni Demuro, with the opera “My bike“, inspired by the Queen song “Bicycle race“.
The Sardinian author says of his work: “… its meaning refers in part to the text of the song, which boldly declares a personal and irreverent way of being, and partly to my way of seeing things: from a point of view that puts the common vision of things upside down. Cycling is the most suitable way to find a personal balance in a world in constant motion, and driving it through the clouds is a good way to not get too bad “.

Second classified was “Bungle in the jungle” by Vladan Nikolic, the Serbian author based his work on the homonymous song by Jethro Tull. It represents the animal kingdom of the jungle.

Third place was Andrea De Luca, with the opera “Resto fuori“, inspired by the song “Sono un ribelle mamma” by Skiantos.
De Luca represents the teenager of the song as a crocodile, an animal often used in his works: dressed as the rebel described in the song, represents the teenager who wants to appropriate his independence from his mother suffering, but now aware that he must go for his Street.
